If you're building a performance engine that's going to see high RPMs, you know that standard shims can't always handle the extreme spring pressures. COMP Cams has a straightforward solution with these ID Spring Locators. They're designed to be a thin, hardened steel alloy seat that not only protects your cylinder head and the shim underneath, but also helps to properly locate and hold the valve spring in place.
Unlike older designs that required significant machining to fit an outer retaining cup, these are an inboard locator. This means the locating shoulder is on the inside, making installation simpler. The hardened steel construction means they're built to withstand the rigors of racing engines. This particular set features a 1.550 inch outer diameter and a .570 inch inner diameter, and they work well with COMP Cams' 925 and 939 dual valve springs.
