You're getting a set of 16 ID Spring Locators from COMP Cams. These are designed to handle the high spring pressures and RPMs found in performance and race engines, where standard shims can fall short. They act as a hardened steel seat that protects both the cylinder head and any shim underneath, while also keeping the valve spring properly located and stable.
Unlike older designs that required extensive machining to fit, these locators feature an inboard locating shoulder. This means the shoulder is on the inside, centering the seat and holding the spring securely without needing major head modifications. The hardened steel alloy construction ensures durability under extreme conditions.
