If you're building a performance engine that will see high RPMs, standard shims might not hold up to the extreme spring pressures. COMP Cams offers a smart solution with these ID Spring Locators. They act as a thin, hardened steel alloy seat that protects both the cylinder head and the shim underneath. More importantly, they help center and hold the valve spring securely in place, preventing it from shifting under load.
Unlike older designs that required significant machining to fit, these locators feature an inboard locating shoulder. This means the shoulder is on the inside, making installation simpler. They are made from hardened steel for durability and feature a 1.625-inch outer diameter and a 0.570-inch inner diameter. These dimensions work well with several popular COMP Cams dual valve springs, including their 996, 998, 26099, and 991 models.
