COMP Cams LS Lifters Sportsman .842 Center Bushed

COMP Cams is well-known for making serious valvetrain components for performance engines. Their Sportsman Lifters are a step up from their Endure-X line and a more budget-friendly option compared to their Elite Race lifters. This particular set, the 96956B-16, features a .842 inch diameter and a centered bushing design, making them a solid choice for a wide range of GM LS engines, including those found in vehicles like the Chevrolet Camaro, Cadillac CTS, and Chevrolet Silverado.

What sets these lifters apart is their focus on reliable oil delivery and increased strength. They feature two pressurized EDM oil feeds directly to the axle and an edge orifice feed to the wheel, which is a more robust oiling system than many other lifters on the market. The design also includes a shallower oil band compared to competitors, adding to their strength and rigidity. Internally, weight has been reduced, and the body has a skirted wheel that not only strengthens the lifter ears but also provides more contact with the lifter bore for better stability. The staked axles mean no clips to worry about, providing permanent axle retention and further reinforcing the lifter ears to prevent spreading.

Built from 8620 steel for enhanced strength and wear resistance, these lifters also incorporate a captured link bar design with a tapered and slotted tower for reduced weight and a cleaner look. The tall body design is versatile, allowing them to be used in both standard and .300" taller lifter bores, which helps reduce wear on the lifter bore itself. This set includes 16 lifters, enough for a complete V8 engine build.
