This is the COMP Cams CS 290B-4 solid flat tappet camshaft, designed for Chevrolet Gen 1 Small Block engines. It's built for faster 1/4 to 3/8 mile track performance, offering strong torque and quick throttle response. The camshaft features a nitrided finish for improved durability and wear resistance.
This camshaft is a solid option for those looking to get more out of their classic Chevy V8. It's specifically tuned for oval track applications, aiming for that strong pull and quick reaction needed on shorter courses. The 255/266 degree duration at .050 lift means it's designed to work well with a variety of cylinder heads and intake manifolds commonly found on these engines, providing a noticeable improvement in the powerband.
It's important to confirm your engine's configuration before installation. This camshaft is intended for engines with flat tappet valvetrains and does not fit factory roller small blocks from 1985 and newer, nor does it fit any LS-based engines. For 1955-1957 Chevrolet 265 engines, a groove on the 5th cam journal for oiling is required; please contact us for details if this applies to your build.
