Starting with a .165-inch wall thickness, these COMP Cams pushrods are built significantly stiffer and stronger than common .080-inch or .125-inch wall designs. This robust construction is crucial for handling the high impact loads, sometimes up to 7500 lbs, experienced in demanding valve train setups. Originally developed with technology from NASCAR and NHRA racing, these pushrods are made in the USA from one-piece, heat-treated chromemoly tubing, offering superior strength over typical 1000 Series steels.
The 7/16-inch diameter provides additional stiffness and a higher natural frequency, which is a notable advantage when you have ample intake port and lifter clearance. The main body of the pushrod is straight, tapering down to a 210-degree radius at the ends. These radii, along with the 5/16-inch ball ends, offer extra clearance for the rocker adjuster at high lift, and they allow the pushrods to be installed in either orientation, up or down.
