What's neat about this particular locator is how it's designed. Instead of needing a machined cup on the outside, this one has an inboard locating shoulder. This means it centers the seat and keeps the spring stable without requiring extensive machining of the cylinder head. It's made from hardened steel, so it's built to last under pressure. The 1.550" outer diameter works well with specific valve springs, like COMP Cams' 26095, especially in applications with a .570" outer diameter guide.
