It's made from a hardened steel alloy that's built to handle the stress, and it does more than just protect the head and shim underneath. This particular locator cup, part number 4769, has an outside diameter of 1.635 inches and an inside diameter of 0.640 inches. It's designed to work with several COMP Cams springs, including their 901, 26956, 26957, and 26955 models.
