COMP Cams has a straightforward fix for this: these spring seat cups. They're made from a thin, hardened steel alloy that's built to last under those demanding conditions. Not only do they protect your cylinder head and the shim underneath, but they also do a great job of keeping the valve spring properly located and seated.

What's neat about this particular set is that they feature an inside diameter (I.D.) locator. This means the locating shoulder is on the inside, which is a change from older designs that required significant machining to the head. This updated design makes installation simpler and ensures the spring stays put, even when things get intense under the hood.
