If you're building a high-RPM engine or running serious spring pressures, standard shims just won't cut it. They can't handle the stress and can lead to issues with spring placement.
This valve spring locator is a well-built solution from hardened steel alloy. It acts as a seat to protect both your cylinder head and the shim underneath. More importantly, it has an inboard locating shoulder that centers the spring and keeps it firmly in place, even at high RPMs. This design avoids the need for extensive machining that older-style external locating cups required.
The 1.300" outer diameter and .570" inner diameter make this seat a good match for COMP Cams' 26915 and 26918 Beehive valve springs, especially in applications with .570" OD guides. It’s a small part that makes a big difference in valvetrain stability.
