Product Details
If you're building a performance engine that's going to see high RPMs, you need to make sure your valve springs are properly seated. Standard shims just won't hold up under the extreme pressures you'll encounter. COMP Cams offers a smart solution with these ID spring locators. They're a thin, hardened steel alloy seat that does a couple of important jobs: it protects the cylinder head and the shim underneath, and it also helps center the valve spring and keep it securely in place.
What's neat about this design is that the locating shoulder is on the inside. This means you don't need to machine the cylinder head as much to fit these compared to older styles that had the locating portion on the outside. These are made from hardened steel, and the 1.300-inch outer diameter works well with COMP Cams' 26981 beehive valve springs in applications where the valve guide is .570 inches in diameter.
