What you get in this set are 16 valve spring locators, made from hardened steel. These are designed to handle the high spring pressures and RPMs found in performance engines, offering a more robust solution than standard shims. They work by providing a solid seat that protects your cylinder head and the shim underneath, while also precisely locating and holding the valve spring in its correct position.
Unlike older designs that required extensive machining to fit, these locators feature an inboard locating shoulder. This means the shoulder is on the inside, centering the seat and keeping the spring stable without needing to modify the cylinder head as much. The .120 inch thickness and .780 inch inner diameter are specifically suited for certain applications, and the 1.253 inch outer diameter pairs well with popular COMP Cams beehive valve springs like the 26918.
