What you get in this set are 16 ID Spring Locators from COMP Cams. These are designed to be a strong, simple solution for engines that see high RPMs and put a lot of pressure on the valve springs. Old-style shims just can't handle that kind of stress, but these locators offer a hardened steel alloy seat that does more than just protect your cylinder head and any shim underneath it. They also help center the valve spring and keep it securely in place.
These locators feature an inboard locating shoulder, meaning the shoulder that centers the spring is on the inside of the part. This design avoids the need for extensive machining on the cylinder head that older, cup-style locators required. They are made from hardened steel, which gives them the durability needed for demanding applications. The 1.550" outer diameter works well with COMP Cams' 26095 valve springs when you have a .570" guide diameter.
