They act as a thin, hardened steel alloy seat that does more than just protect your cylinder head and any shims you might use; they also help center and hold the valve spring securely in place.
These locators feature an inboard locating shoulder, which helps center the seat itself and keeps the spring from shifting. The 1.300-inch outer diameter is a good match for COMP Cams' 26915 and 26918 Beehive valve springs when you're working with a .570-inch outer diameter guide. Made from hardened steel, these seats are built to withstand the demands of racing engines.
