Starting with a 21-4N forged high-strength steel alloy, these COMP Cams Sportsman valves are built for performance and durability in street or competition engines. The intake valve measures 2.02 inches across the head and has a 4.900-inch overall length, designed to fit GM LS engines. This material choice and construction mean they can handle the demands of hydraulic, mechanical, and roller lifter applications without issue.
You'll find the 11/32-inch stems are hard chrome-plated, and the tips are hardened to a minimum of 50 HRc, which means you don't need a separate lash cap. COMP Cams also added proprietary oil retention surfacing to the stems, which isn't just a thin flash plating. For better airflow, they've included a high-flow underhead fillet relief and swirl-polished fillets. This design not only helps increase the flow rate but also reduces the chance of radial cracks, making the valve more resistant to failure.
