These valves are forged from a high-strength 21-4N steel alloy, which gives them the toughness needed for repeated cycles. The stems are hard chrome-plated and feature a hardened tip, so you don't need to worry about using a separate lash cap. COMP Cams also incorporated a high-flow underhead fillet relief and swirl-polished fillets. This design helps increase airflow past the valve and reduces stress points, making them more resistant to failure over time. The 11/32" stems are also treated with a proprietary oil retention surfacing, which is more than just a thin plating.
