This set includes 16 COMP Cams 7-degree steel retainers, specifically designed for GM GEN III LS applications. They are intended to be used with COMP Cams 26915 and 26918 Beehive valve springs, which often have larger diameters and require retainers capable of handling higher pressures. These retainers are a well-built solution for that need.
Engineers used 3D CAD and FEA analysis to contour the top profiling of these retainers. This design helps reduce stress, allows for increased lift, and lowers the overall mass compared to older designs. They are CNC-machined to exact tolerances from high-grade SAE 4140 chromemoly steel, then finished with a black oxide coating for durability. The retainers are built for a stock valve stem size and a 1.055" spring diameter.
