COMP Cams Steel Retainers Ford 3.8L-4.2

This set includes 12 steel retainers, designed to work with valve springs that handle higher pressures. They are specifically made for Ford 3.8L and 4.2L engines, fitting vehicles like the Ford Mustang, F-150, and Windstar. These retainers are crucial for ensuring your valve springs perform correctly under increased load.

COMP Cams used advanced computer design tools, including 3D CAD and FEA, to shape these retainers. This process resulted in a contoured top profile that reduces stress and mass, while also allowing for increased lift. Each retainer is precisely machined using CAD/Cam software from high-grade SAE 4140 chromemoly steel. They feature a 7-degree lock angle and are designed for stock valve stem sizes and stock spring diameters.

These retainers are black oxided for added durability and are intended for use with COMP Cams' 26918 Beehive springs, though they are also suitable for stock valve springs. They are a well-built component for anyone rebuilding or upgrading their engine's valvetrain.
