COMP Cams is well-known for developing high-performance valvetrain components, and their HRT Camshaft Series represents their latest advancements for forced induction engines. This Turbo Stage 1 HRT kit is specifically designed for 2009 and newer Dodge 5.7L (Eagle) and 6.4L (Apache) HEMI engines equipped with Variable Valve Timing (VVT) and responsive, street-oriented turbocharger systems. It aims to provide a noticeable increase in power and torque while maintaining good off-idle response thanks to its limited phaser control.

The core of this kit features advanced lobe designs that COMP Cams calls 'Low Shock Technology.' This means the camshaft profiles are engineered to maximize horsepower gains, especially in boosted applications, while also improving stability at higher RPMs. These profiles are also designed to be gentler on your valve springs, which can lead to increased durability and reduced spring load loss over time. Furthermore, all HRT Turbo & Supercharger Camshafts undergo the Micro Surface Enhancement (MSE) finishing process. This process reduces surface roughness and significantly increases the effective load-bearing area, allowing the camshaft to handle higher loads reliably.

This kit is part of a staged approach, with Stage 1 being a solid choice for street-driven vehicles with turbo setups. Keep in mind that for installation on your 5.7L or 6.4L HEMI with VVT, you will need to address a few other components. This includes a COMP Cams DOD (Displacement on Demand) Delete Kit, upgraded valve springs (like the COMP Cams 26918 springs), and either a COMP Cams phaser limiter or lock kit to properly manage the VVT system.
