COMP Cams Valve Lock 11/32in Four Groove

These COMP Cams valve locks are made from hardened steel and feature a 7-degree angle with four grooves, specifically sized for an 11/32-inch valve stem. They're a solid choice for stock engine rebuilds on the street, especially when you're working with lighter valve spring loads. It's really important that your valve locks match your valve size precisely; if the two halves of the lock fit together without any gap, they're too large, and if they leave a gap between the middle of the lock and the outside of the stem, they're too small.

While it might seem like the tang on the valve lock is what holds everything together, its real job is just to temporarily position the lock, retainer, and spring until the retainer's taper can seat around the lock. This creates a 'collet' effect that securely binds the retainer and lock, and the more spring force applied, the tighter this connection becomes.
