COMP Cams Valve Locks 11/32in Single Groove

This product includes a set of 16 hardened steel valve locks, designed for single groove valves with an 11/32-inch stem diameter and a 7-degree lock angle. These are intended as a direct replacement for stock engine rebuilds and are suitable for street applications with lighter valve spring loads. It's important to ensure the valve locks match your valve size precisely; if the two halves fit together with no gap, they are too large, and if they leave a gap between the middle of the lock and the stem's outer diameter, they are too small.

The primary function of the tang on a valve lock is to temporarily position the lock, retainer, and spring until the retainer's taper can seat around the lock. This creates a collet effect that securely binds the components together. The force exerted by the valve spring as the valve opens actually increases this binding effect, keeping the retainer and lock firmly in place. These locks are stamped and then hardened for durability in milder street applications.
