COMP Cams Valve Locks 3/8in 2 Groove

This product includes 16 pairs of COMP Cams 2-groove, 7-degree angle valve locks. They are made from hardened steel and designed for a 3/8-inch valve stem size, making them a suitable replacement for stock engine rebuilds.

These valve locks are specifically recommended for street applications where valve spring loads are lighter. It's important that the valve locks match the valve size precisely. When properly installed on the valve stem, there should be a small gap between the two halves of the lock. If the halves fit together without a gap, they are too large, and if they fit too tightly to the stem, leaving a gap between the middle of the lock and the stem's outer diameter, they are too small.

The tang on a valve lock's purpose is to temporarily position the lock, retainer, and spring until the retainer's taper can seat around the lock. This creates a 'collet' effect that binds them together, with spring force actually increasing the binding effect as the valve opens.
