What you get here is one 42-inch by 48-inch sheet of DEI's Form-A-Shield material. This isn't just any heat shield; it's built to handle extreme temperatures, capable of withstanding direct heat up to 1400°F and even higher. It’s designed to go right where the heat is hottest, like on exhaust headers, turbo housings, or downpipes, to dramatically cut down on radiant heat.

The construction is a 10-mil dimpled aluminum layer bonded to a tough basalt thermal barrier material. This makes it really pliable, so you can form it to fit all sorts of shapes and configurations around your exhaust system or firewall. It's also durable and resistant to oil and chemical spills, which is always a plus in a shop environment. Because it doesn't have an adhesive backing, you'll fasten it using straps, clamps, or DEI's locking ties, giving you flexibility in how you secure it. It's a solid option for keeping under-hood temperatures down or protecting sensitive areas like transmission tunnels and floor pans.

While this material is designed to be applied directly to hot surfaces, remember that it doesn't have adhesive. If you need to use it in areas that aren't directly exposed to extreme heat, like a firewall or under the hood, DEI suggests using their Adhesive Spray to help it act as a heat barrier and reflector.
