Product Details
When you open the box for the Edelbrock Rollin' Thunder Camshaft #2207, you'll find the camshaft itself, a set of flat tappet lifters, assembly lube, and detailed instructions. This camshaft is built for 1987 and later Gen-I Small-Block Chevy V8 engines, specifically those in the 283 to 400 cubic inch range. It's designed to give you a significant boost in torque from the low end all the way up to the mid-range, making it a great choice for daily drivers, trucks, vans, RVs, and 4x4s that need more pulling power and better throttle response.
The specifications for this cam include 242 degrees of intake duration and 240 degrees of exhaust duration, with a lift of .594 inches on both. The lobe separation is set at 112 degrees, with an intake centerline at 107 degrees, which contributes to its smooth idle and strong low-to-mid range performance. Edelbrock suggests pairing this camshaft with their Performer manifolds for optimal results in the off-idle to 5500 RPM range. When tested on a 383 cubic inch engine with a Performer RPM Air-Gap intake, Thunder Series AVS carb, and Performer RPM E-Tec cylinder heads, this setup produced an impressive 460 horsepower and 460 foot-pounds of torque.
For installation, it's important to note that this camshaft requires the use of stock ratio rocker arms only. You'll also want to pair it with a high stall torque converter to take full advantage of its performance characteristics. This camshaft is not CARB approved and cannot be shipped to California.
