When you're rebuilding the top end of your Small-Block Oldsmobile 350 or 403 cubic inch engine, especially one using a hydraulic flat tappet camshaft, these Edelbrock Performer RPM cylinder heads are a solid choice. What you get in this package are the two aluminum cylinder heads themselves, ready to bolt on. They are a modern update to Edelbrock's previous designs, offering improved airflow and a more desirable compression ratio for most builds. These heads are designed to work with factory-style mechanical fuel pumps, which is a notable feature not found on all aftermarket heads.

Crafted from 356-T6 aluminum, these heads feature a 68 cc combustion chamber that helps achieve a good compression ratio for a small-block engine, avoiding the lower compression that can come with larger chambers. The intake ports flow 200 cc and the exhaust ports flow 130 cc, paired with 2.072-inch intake valves and 1.680-inch exhaust valves. The spark plug positioning is also updated for better combustion. Edelbrock has reinforced key areas with a finished deck thickness that has extra material above the intake port and pre-counterbored holes for 0.5-inch diameter studs, which helps ensure strong clamping force. The valvetrain uses a stud-and-guide plate system, which is a strong foundation for beefier pushrods, and Helicoil inserts are used in the exhaust and rocker stud holes to keep everything securely in place. These heads are designed to maintain compatibility with most OEM and aftermarket intake manifolds and headers, and they include a cutout for mechanical fuel pump clearance.

While these heads are designed for Small-Block Oldsmobile engines, they can physically fit on Big-Block Oldsmobile engines. However, the 68 cc combustion chamber size will raise the compression ratio higher than typically desired for a big-block application. It's important to note that there are no provisions for a heat crossover on these heads, and they are not CARB approved, meaning they cannot be shipped to California. For engines requiring a different setup, Edelbrock offers other cylinder head options.
