Once there, it hardens in place to form a permanent seal. To use it, you drain the cooling system, add Blue Devil to the radiator with the engine cold, then idle the vehicle for 50 minutes with the heater set to maximum. It works on both gasoline and diesel engines.
One important detail: the cooling system must be flushed of all antifreeze before adding Blue Devil — the formula is not compatible with coolant mixtures. blown headgasket
I have a 1991 Toyota Pick-up with 277000 miles. About 4 months ago I let the radiator over heat and blew the head gasket. The estimate was over $1400 plus I needed a new radiator. I drove for four months with the oil pan half full of oil and half full of water unable to drive over 35 mph for about 10 miles before over heating and having to refill the radiator.
