They feature JE's proprietary Forged Side Relief (FSR) design, which helps reduce friction and power loss by using a narrower skirt and a shorter wrist pin, saving weight in the process. Depending on the specific application, they may also include an accumulator groove to help reduce combustion gas pressure, improving ring seal and preventing flutter. Some applications also get a skirt coating to further reduce friction and wear on the cylinder walls, which can also help quiet down engine noise.
