They incorporate JE Pistons' proprietary Forged Side Relief (FSR) design, which minimizes friction and power loss by reducing skirt width and using a shorter wrist pin for additional weight savings. Depending on the specific application, these pistons may also feature an accumulator groove to help reduce combustion gas pressure, preventing ring flutter and improving ring seal for consistent power. A skirt coating, also application-dependent, further reduces friction and wear on the piston skirts and cylinder walls, contributing to quieter operation.
