They feature a proprietary Forged Side Relief (FSR) design, which helps minimize friction and power loss by reducing skirt width and using a shorter wrist pin, saving weight in the process. Depending on the specific application, these pistons may also include an accumulator groove to help manage combustion gas pressure, improving ring seal and preventing flutter. Some applications also get a skirt coating to further reduce friction and wear, which can also quiet down the engine's operation.
