They feature a proprietary Forged Side Relief (FSR) design, which helps reduce friction and power loss by using a narrower skirt and a shorter wrist pin, saving weight where it counts. Depending on the specific application, you might also find an accumulator groove to help manage combustion gas pressure, leading to better ring seal and more consistent power. Some applications also include a skirt coating to further reduce friction and wear on the cylinder walls, which can also help quiet down engine noise.
