If you're rebuilding the top end of your 4.6L 3V Modular engine for serious performance, a set of high-quality forged pistons is a critical component. JE Pistons uses a proprietary Forged Side Relief (FSR) forging design, which helps minimize friction and power loss by reducing skirt width. This design, combined with a shorter wrist pin, also saves weight. The pistons are forged in the USA from 2618 aluminum, a material known for its high tensile strength, making them well-suited for engines that see a lot of abuse. Depending on the specific application, these pistons may also feature an accumulator groove to reduce combustion gas pressure and improve ring seal, as well as a skirt coating to further reduce friction and wear while quieting down operation.
