They use a proprietary Forged Side Relief (FSR) design, which helps reduce friction and power loss by using a narrower skirt and a shorter wrist pin, saving weight too. Depending on the specific engine, these pistons might also come with an accumulator groove to help reduce combustion gas pressure, leading to better ring seal and consistent power. Some applications also get a skirt coating to further cut down on friction and wear, which can also make the engine run a bit quieter.
