These pistons incorporate JE Pistons' proprietary Forged Side Relief (FSR) forging design. This design helps minimize friction and power loss by reducing skirt width and saving weight with a shorter wrist pin. Depending on the specific application, they may also include an accumulator groove to reduce combustion gas pressure, which helps prevent ring flutter and improves ring seal for more consistent power. A skirt coating, also application-dependent, further reduces friction and wear on the piston skirts and cylinder walls, contributing to quieter operation.
