They apply that knowledge to this set of eight pistons specifically for a 400 SBC engine, featuring a .305 dome. These pistons are forged and machined entirely in the USA using 2618 aluminum, a material chosen for its high tensile strength, which is crucial for engines pushed hard in performance applications.

JE Pistons uses a proprietary Forged Side Relief (FSR) design. This means the pistons have a reduced skirt width and a shorter wrist pin, which helps minimize friction and power loss while also saving weight. Depending on the specific application, these pistons may also include an accumulator groove to help manage combustion gas pressure, leading to better ring seal and more consistent power. Some applications also feature a skirt coating that further reduces friction and wear on the piston skirts and cylinder walls, while also helping to quiet down engine noise.
