This set of 8 pistons is built for the 400 SBC engine with an 18-degree dome design and a 4.125-inch bore. They are forged and machined entirely in the USA from 2618 aluminum, a material chosen for its high tensile strength, which is crucial for engines pushed to their limits.

These pistons feature JE Pistons' proprietary Forged Side Relief (FSR) design. This means they have a reduced skirt width and a shorter wrist pin, which helps minimize friction and power loss while also saving weight. Depending on the specific application, these pistons may also include an accumulator groove to help manage combustion gas pressure, improving ring seal and keeping power consistent. A skirt coating, also application-dependent, further reduces friction and wear on the piston skirts and cylinder walls, contributing to quieter operation and longer life.
