JE Pistons 97-05 VW / Audi 1.8T 81mm Bore STD Size Piston Set of 4

JE Pistons uses a proprietary Forged Side Relief (FSR) forging design that cuts down on skirt width. This not only helps reduce friction and power loss but also saves weight, especially when paired with a shorter wrist pin. These pistons are forged in the USA from 2618 aluminum, a material chosen for its high tensile strength, which is crucial for demanding performance applications where engines are pushed hard.

For specific engines and uses, JE Pistons designs these pistons to optimize both performance and durability. Depending on the application, you might find an accumulator groove that helps manage combustion gas pressure, leading to better ring seal and consistent power. Some applications also include a skirt coating to further reduce friction and wear on the piston skirts and cylinder walls, which can also help quiet down engine noise. This set is for the 1.8T 20-valve engine found in many VW and Audi models from 1997-2005. It features an 81mm bore (standard size) and an inverted dome/dish design with a 9.25:1 compression ratio, using a 20mm pin.
