These pistons are forged in the USA from 2618 aluminum, a material chosen for its high tensile strength, which is essential for handling the demands of high-performance engines. They feature JE Pistons' proprietary Forged Side Relief (FSR) design, which helps minimize friction and power loss by reducing skirt width and saving weight with a shorter wrist pin. Depending on the specific application, these pistons may also include an accumulator groove to help reduce combustion gas pressure, preventing ring flutter and improving ring seal for consistent power delivery. A skirt coating, also application-dependent, further reduces friction and wear on the piston skirts and cylinder walls, contributing to quieter operation.
