These pistons are forged in the USA using 2618 aluminum, a material chosen for its high tensile strength, which is crucial for engines that demand serious durability and performance. This set features a proprietary Forged Side Relief (FSR) design. This means the pistons have a reduced skirt width and a shorter wrist pin, which helps minimize friction and power loss while also saving weight. Depending on the specific application, these pistons may also include an accumulator groove to help manage combustion gas pressure, reducing ring flutter and improving ring seal for consistent power delivery. A skirt coating, also application-dependent, further reduces friction and wear on the piston skirts and cylinder walls, contributing to quieter operation and longer component life. Each piston is designed specifically for the Big Block Chevrolet engine and its intended use, optimizing both performance and longevity.
