It features JE's proprietary Forged Side Relief (FSR) design, which helps minimize friction and power loss by using a reduced skirt width and a shorter wrist pin, saving weight. Depending on the specific application, some pistons may also include a skirt coating to further reduce friction and wear on the cylinder walls, while also helping to quiet down engine noise.
