These pistons are forged in the USA from 2618 aluminum, which gives them the high tensile strength needed for demanding performance builds. JE Pistons uses a proprietary Forged Side Relief (FSR) design that helps reduce friction and power loss by using a narrower skirt and a shorter wrist pin, saving weight in the process. Depending on the specific application, you might also find an accumulator groove to help control combustion gas pressure, leading to better ring seal and consistent power. Some applications also include a skirt coating that further reduces friction and wear on the piston skirts and cylinder walls, which can also help quiet down engine noise.
