These pistons are forged in the USA from 2618 aluminum, which gives them the strong tensile strength needed for high-demand applications. JE uses a proprietary Forged Side Relief (FSR) design that helps minimize friction and power loss by reducing skirt width, and they save additional weight with a shorter wrist pin. Depending on the specific application, these pistons may also feature an accumulator groove to reduce pressure from combustion gases, which helps prevent ring flutter and improves ring seal for consistent power. A skirt coating, also application-dependent, further reduces friction and wear on the piston skirts and cylinder walls, while also helping to quiet down operation.
