The proprietary Forged Side Relief (FSR) design is a key feature, minimizing friction and power loss by using a reduced skirt width and a shorter wrist pin, which also saves weight. Depending on the specific application, you might also find an accumulator groove to help manage combustion gas pressure, reducing ring flutter and improving ring seal for consistent power delivery. Some applications also include a skirt coating that works to reduce friction and wear on the piston skirts and cylinder walls, contributing to quieter operation and longer life.
