This set features JE Pistons' proprietary Forged Side Relief (FSR) design, which helps reduce friction and power loss by using a narrower skirt and a shorter wrist pin, saving weight in the process. Depending on the specific application, these pistons may also include an accumulator groove to help manage combustion gas pressure, reducing ring flutter and improving ring seal for more consistent power. A skirt coating, also application-dependent, further reduces friction and wear on the piston skirts and cylinder walls, while also helping to quiet down engine noise.
