These pistons are forged in the USA using 2618 aluminum, which offers the high tensile strength needed for demanding performance applications. They feature JE's proprietary Forged Side Relief (FSR) design, which helps minimize friction and power loss by reducing skirt width. This design also saves weight by using a shorter wrist pin. Depending on the specific application, these pistons may also include an accumulator groove to help reduce combustion gas pressure, improving ring seal and keeping power consistent. Some applications also come with a skirt coating to further reduce friction and wear on the piston skirts and cylinder walls, which also helps quiet down engine noise.
