These pistons are forged in the USA from 2618 aluminum, a material chosen for its strong tensile strength, which is crucial for high-demand performance applications. JE Pistons uses a proprietary Forged Side Relief (FSR) design that helps minimize friction and power loss by using a reduced skirt width and a shorter wrist pin, saving additional weight. Depending on the specific application, these pistons may also feature an accumulator groove to reduce combustion gas pressure, which helps prevent ring flutter and improves ring seal for consistent power. A skirt coating, also application-dependent, further reduces friction and wear on the piston skirts and cylinder walls, contributing to quieter operation.
