If you're rebuilding the engine in your 1984-1989 Porsche 911, this set of six pistons is built specifically for that air-cooled, 6-cylinder engine. These pistons are forged in the USA from 2618 aluminum, which gives them the high tensile strength needed for high-demand performance applications. JE Pistons uses a proprietary Forged Side Relief (FSR) design that helps minimize friction and power loss by reducing skirt width. Depending on the specific application, these pistons might also include an accumulator groove to help reduce combustion gas pressure, improving ring seal and preventing ring flutter. Some applications also feature a skirt coating that further reduces friction and wear on the piston skirts and cylinder walls, which also helps quiet down the engine operation.
