JE Pistons uses a proprietary forged side relief (FSR) design, which helps reduce friction and weight by using a narrower skirt and a shorter wrist pin. This design, combined with the 2618 aluminum construction, provides the high tensile strength needed for high-demand applications. Depending on the specific application, these pistons may also feature an accumulator groove to help reduce combustion gas pressure and improve ring seal, and a skirt coating to further reduce friction and wear while also quieting operation.
