When you're rebuilding the top end of a Porsche 3.0L air-cooled engine, especially for performance applications, the pistons are a critical component. They are forged and machined entirely in the USA, using 2618 aluminum, which offers the high tensile strength needed for demanding engine work.

This set features JE's proprietary Forged Side Relief (FSR) design, which helps minimize friction and power loss by reducing skirt width and using a shorter wrist pin for added weight savings. Depending on the specific application, these pistons may also include an accumulator groove to help reduce combustion gas pressure, improving ring seal and preventing flutter. A skirt coating, also application-dependent, further reduces friction and wear on the cylinder walls, contributing to quieter operation and longer life. These pistons are designed specifically for the Porsche 3.0L engine to optimize performance and durability.
