JE Pistons uses a proprietary forged side relief (FSR) design, which helps minimize friction and power loss by reducing skirt width. This design, combined with a shorter wrist pin, also saves weight. The pistons are forged in the USA from 2618 aluminum, a material chosen for its high tensile strength, making them well-suited for high-demand performance engines. Depending on the specific application, these pistons may also include an accumulator groove to help reduce combustion gas pressure, improving ring seal and maintaining consistent power. Some applications also feature a skirt coating to further reduce friction and wear on the cylinder walls, which can also help quiet down engine noise.
