JE Pistons uses a proprietary Forged Side Relief (FSR) design that helps minimize friction and power loss by reducing skirt width. This design also saves weight with a shorter wrist pin. Depending on the specific application, these pistons might also include an accumulator groove to help manage combustion gas pressure, which can improve ring seal and keep power consistent. Some applications also feature a skirt coating that further reduces friction and wear on the piston skirts and cylinder walls, helping to quiet down operation and extend the life of the components.
